Great letter from Customer Moving to Ohio

These were the fantastic guys who took care of us during our move.   I would recommend them to anyone.  In fact I’ve sent this picture to my friends with a note telling how great they were.  They knew I was sick and they did everything possible to make things go smoothly.  We had no breakage and no scratches.  Our floors at both ends we’re covered and protected against wear and dirt. They were so kind and courteous to us.  They were like family.

Thank you for sending us David, Richard, Eric, and the fourth one that I can’t remember his name.

You have great people working for you!!!  They all carried their weight and we never heard anyone complain.  They were cheerful and positive both days.

They made our move so easy.  With one person unable to lift with knee problems and me with bronchitis we didn’t know how we could accomplish this goal.  These four guys made it happen!

Carrier Liability

Planning to relocate locally or long distance?  Be prepared for questions from your moving company.  One of the most important issues to consider is how your goods will be covered for damage while in transit.  Movers offer what is termed Carrier Liability rather than insurance.   Most local movers as well as interstate movers, those licensed to move household goods across state lines, offer two types of coverage.  Basic carrier liability is the minimum amount of coverage carriers must provide by law and provides 60 cents per pound per article.  Basic carrier liability is based on the weight of your items, not their value.  If an item is damaged and weighs one pound, you will receive 60 cents for that item if it is lost or damaged.  If an item weighs 10 pounds you get $6.00, one hundred pounds…$60.00 and so on.  For a catastrophic loss, such as a fire or accident, you would receive 60 cents times the total weight of your shipment.  There is no cost to this coverage.
The other option is Full Replacement Coverage.  A value is established for your goods, typically using a formula of $5.00 – $6.00 per pound.  For example a 10,000 pound shipment valued at $6.00 per pound would be covered for $60,000.  The important thing to note is that with Full Replacement Coverage, movers still reserve the right to repair items that are damaged yet reparable.  If they are missing or cannot be repaired, goods will be replaced based on their market value today, without depreciation.  There is a cost to Full Replacement Coverage but many carriers will offer discounted rates to corporate relocations, retiring employees, Seniors, etc.
It’s also important to check with your Insurance carrier to determine whether or not you have coverage with them while your goods are in transit.

Preparing For Moving Day

Moving Day can be very hectic. When planning a move, it helps to take some time a few days prior to your moving crew’s arrival to prepare your personal belongings. Whether driving your own vehicle or flying to your new home, there may be a few things you need to take along yourself. These items might include your prescription medication, handheld electronic devices, important documents or anything you will need while your items are in transit. Making a list of the articles you plan to personally take will be helpful. Next, designate an area of your home where these items can be placed on Moving Day. This can be in a corner or you may want to empty a small hall closet to assign as a holding area. Don’t place these items along with goods that need to be packed by movers. When your A. Arnold driver arrives, let him know these goods will not be going on the moving van. It may also be helpful to tag that area or put a note on the closet door. If you are driving to your destination, you may wish to load those articles into your personal vehicle as soon as the movers begin working. The professional packers will be working quickly. It’s best not to leave your personal items on countertops or tabletops where the crew is packing unless they are intended to be packed and loaded on the van. Taking these steps in the days before your movers arrive will ensure a smooth moving day and that you have the essentials with you while your items are in transit.

Sterling International Handles U.S. Embassy Move

Read about another successful international relocation handled by Sterling International:

Please find attached my completed Form 3080, offering extremely positive feedback for the carrier of my POV.

In particular, I want to recognize Katie Burkholder for practicing exemplary customer service throughout all phases of my move.  Katie was prompt and responsive to all of my inquiries, and she was proactive in motivating and managing less-responsive colleagues in the process. Katie checked in with me from time to time to offer valuable updates to shipment progress; because of her efforts, I always felt looped in.  Despite all the anxieties and stresses associated with a move like this, I felt total ease with the POV shipment because Katie offered superior customer service, excellent communication, and a friendly demeanor.  I strongly recommend her for recognition and would be happy to serve as a reference for any such action.

Katie has my compliments!

Many thanks,

Good Job on the Move to Marseille, France

We are happy to inform you that our relocation went well in all respects. The timetable was respected, and the crew doing the packing did a very good job.

We would like to stress the very high professionalism and care shown by Greg Dolphin’s team (Fred + crew), who managed to squeeze all the boxes and furniture in without losing an inch (a true puzzle). This feat allowed for the car to be loaded in the same container, but leaving only a space of one inch. If this crew had not been real pros, my car would have stayed in the parking lot, and we would have been swamped by problems, delays and extra costs.

Furthermore, I would like to stress that the time available to finish the packing and the loading was a real challenge, which was surmounted too (with sweat on their foreheads). This drive to succeed in their task is not common and do them credit. The management of Tampa Bay Moving should be happy to have this competent crew (four ****), who merit special recognition for their high quality work.

We also want to underline that the whole operation went without any technical problems or problems concerning the planning or the costs. This was due to the permanent follow up and perfect collaboration on the part of Sterling International represented by Phil Aeschleman + Anne Marie Thawleyar who succeeded in ensuring the contact between all the parties.

It should be said that Phil Aeschleman + Anne Marie Thawleyar proved their professional skills all through and this within the framework of friendly, but rigorous commercial relations. It is abundantly clear that this operation could not have been a success without their excellent work.

As regards the part of “the other side of the pond” European Relocation Services (Jennifer Sloan) have also shown their perfect sense of professionalism in our relations. There was no delay in the contacts, and every question we asked was answered immediately.

As a matter of fact the French team represented by Jennifer Sloan allowed for the completion of the last stage of our relocation in a safe and easy way always accompanied by a charming smile (which in a world of “tough guys” or”administrative cool” is something that we certainly appreciate.
We have no doubt that the last service from European Relocation Services (the transportation of our household goods to our final destination in Belgium) will be of the same quality.

A last word concerning our contractors. The relocation sector is far from having a reputation for competence, reliability and honesty, but it is perfectly proper to assign these “qualifications” to the partners of our relocation.

Thanks to all for this.

Good Job
